WHAT IS JAPANESE KNOTWEED AND WHY IS A SPECIALIST NEEDED?

Japanese Knotweed (Fallopia Japonic) is a common invasive weed that often takes root in grounds, gardens, buildings and roads. It spreads quickly and is very difficult to remove by conventional weed removal methods.

Because Japanese Knotweed is such a 'stubborn' plant it can be difficult to manage and often grows at weak points within structures, causing damage, creating cracks in masonry and attempting to grow through these cracks, which can lead to substantial defects within a building's structure or foundations.

OUR INVASIVE WEED SURVEYS

Japanese Knotweed Management Company is part of Asbestos Management Company and has been helping property owners and land owners irradicate Japanese Knotweed for almost 20 years. Established in 2004, we are a company that provides comprehensive investigations and direct action plans which lead to permanent solutions.

Japanese Knotweed is a "determined, dogged, and potentially devastating enemy", so if you suspect that you have it growing on your property, call in our experts now and ask for a survey.

HOW TO IDENTIFY JAPANESE KNOTWEED

  • Large leaves in the shape of a heart or spade

  • Leaves that have a ragged edge along the stem

  • The stem is hollow, a bit like bamboo

  • Fleshy shoots that may be tinged red

  • In Spring – look for rapid-growing, tall stems with plenty of green leaves

  • In Summer – clusters of cream-coloured flowers

  • In Winter – during the plant’s dormant phase the leaves will die away, leaving just the stem upright
