HIMALAYAN BALSAM REMOVAL AND MANAGEMENT

Himalayan Balsam is an invasive plant species that spreads rapidly, outcompeting native vegetation and disrupting ecosystems. Its aggressive growth along riverbanks, roadsides, and woodlands can lead to soil erosion and biodiversity loss. Due to its rapid spread and explosive seed dispersal, professional intervention is essential to effectively control and manage infestations. Our invasive plant specialises are here to help with the identification, treatment, and long-term management of Himalayan Balsam, ensuring it is removed in compliance with environmental regulations.

HOW TO IDENTIFY HIMALAYAN BALSAM

Himalayan Balsam is a tall, fast-growing plant that can reach up to 3 metres in height. It has hollow, reddish-green stems, serrated-edged leaves, and distinctive pink-purple, helmet-shaped flowers that bloom between June and October.

The plant produces seed pods that burst open when touched, dispersing up to 800 seeds per plant, allowing it to spread quickly over large areas. If left unmanaged, Himalayan Balsam can dominate riverbanks and natural habitats, crowding out native flora. If you suspect that you have Himalayan Balsam growing, or any other invasive plant species, give our team a call to see how we can help.

INVASIVE PLANT MANAGEMENT

If you suspect Himalayan Balsam on your property, our specialist team can carry out a detailed site survey to assess the extent of the infestation. We develop tailored management plans to control and remove the plant using environmentally responsible methods such as manual removal, herbicide treatment, and habitat restoration. With our expertise in invasive species management, we help landowners, developers, and local authorities mitigate the risks posed by Himalayan Balsam, preventing further spread and protecting the local environment.
